This evening at 8:30PM CST, we’re going to be doing some planned maintenance on our internal API servers. The service is necessary to expand the capacity of that cluster and add capacity to our systems.
You will see no disruption in service to your site. None of your normal site activity causes requests to our API servers. It is a completely separate system, even run on completely separate physical hardware.
That means your customers and site visitors will not notice a thing.
However, a few of our management systems and tools will be offline for up to 30 minutes starting at 8:30pm central standard time. This includes the User Portal and web-based database access system (phpmyadmin). It also includes a few management tools such as purging the CDN. However, purging your site content will still work. The automated systems that purge page caches when you edit or publish a post will also work just fine.
We will be updating our status blog as we go, http://wpengine.wordpress.com, so please refer to that site (and subscribe!) to stay up-to-date.
Let us know if you’ve got any questions in a support ticket.
Thanks for choosing WP Engine!
